Popular in Spain, and now in Miyoshi, anyone can try out the challenging sport of bike and motorcycle trials by visiting the Team Teraso Trial School! Motorcycle trials involve hopping onto specialized, light-weight, and seatless motorcycles, and using them to climb over obstacles and maneuver through tight courses, without the rider’s feet touching the ground. With a little skill, bicycles can be used to pull off the same kind of tricks, too. Less focused on speed, these trials are about controlling the bikes so well that the rider can conquer anything blocking their path, and fans of the sport say that getting to the end of a course is always an exhilarating moment of accomplishment. In recent years, Team Teraso has brought a love of motorcycle trials to Miyoshi and has been working to build up the local community, and they invite anyone with an interest to participate in their fun workshops at the Team Teraso Trial School, and dive into this unique sport!

Team Teraso is an organization of locals who love motorcycle trials, and actively compete in competitions, with members of all kinds coming from around the Miyoshi area. Their training camps and motorcycle or bike trial classes were started in hopes of spreading interest in the sport while growing the Miyoshi community, and finding new athletes to get involved. In fact, ask about the classes and they’ll tell you, anyone who grows interested in motorcycle trials will find wholehearted support with Team Teraso, and they’re enthusiastic about helping new athletes in the area to improve their skills enough to compete in real motorcycle trial events! But even travelers passing through will undoubtedly find the Team Teraso Trial School to be a uniquely fun way to spend the day in Miyoshi, and anyone can join in. On the specialized courses, motorcycle licenses aren’t required, so even kids can choose between trying bicycles and motorcycles. In the motorcycle trial community, some athletes start at age 3, and others at age 50! Plus, the skills that kids can learn safely on the trial course lead to good control of bicycles and motorcycles, and encourage safe driving on public roads.

Team Teraso Trial School is held at Haizuka Dam Trial Park, a dedicated motorcycle and bike trial course that has even hosted the All Japan Trial Championship, run by the Motorcycle Federation of Japan. The obstacles built for a trial course can be put together using natural materials like stone and manmade pieces like pipes, and the construction of the nearby Haizuka Dam provided the perfect ingredients to whip up the rocky slopes and angular hills that make this trial park popular. Team Teraso provides the bikes, helmets, gloves, boots, knee pads, shin guards, and anything else needed to participate, making it easy to just show up at the Trial School and have a great time at this unique Miyoshi destination!
