A Misc Goods Shop on Miyoshi Street where many miscellaneous goods such as plants, stationery and tableware are sold. The owner, Kikkawa, is a bright and active person who not only sells these goods but also makes the many wreaths that are on display inside the store. She also created a walking map of Miyoshi and publishes all event information via Social Media, when on Miyoshi Street if you stop by Kikkawa you can get the latest information.
Many of the goods in the shop are retro, simple, sporty things. The owner is an especially big fan of retro stationery which looks good just laid about a room, there is even stationery that suits men.
As she says, “I buy things I would put in my own house and use.” She avoids seasonal items opting for things that look good all year round.
Many customers visit looking for gifts for all ages, different genders, housewarming, birthdays, farewell presents and many other things. You get an especially good sense of the owner’s taste from the amount of non-gendered goods available.
Many people come to the store to buy things for themselves and later return to buy gifts because they enjoyed what they bought. People are often pleased with the assortment of goods that are both practical and inexpensive.
The owner also likes plants so she keeps both preserved and imitation flowers in stock as well as small pots she acquires directly from the makers. The wreaths she makes from dried flowers are also displayed around the shop. She looks very happy whenever discussing the things she makes.
The owner originally opened the shop when she heard that the previous general store on Miyoshi Street had closed. Since the owner had previous sales experience and felt the street would become lonely without the shop she thought, “Let’s give it a try!”
At first it was intended as a place for people to gather, they started with tea bags, sweets, handmade ‘eco bags’ and friend’s DIY projects. She heavily leveraged her sales experience and has since used that to maintain strong relationships with customers who still frequently come.
Kikkawa’s expertise is not limited to her own shop either. She walked all over Miyoshicho and gathered shop information to create a hand drawn map that she now produces and distributes.
She also oversees social media accounts where she publishes things like the day’s weather in town and the status of events. She told us, “Along with information about my shop I want people to find out about everything happening on the bustling Miyoshi main street.” with a smile.
If you’re out and about on Miyoshi Street, Kikkawa’s information is a must!
