A convenient stop on Miyoshi’s scenic old shopping street, Kikkawa sells a variety of home goods, stationery, accessories, toys, trendy knickknacks, and other miscellaneous items, all with plenty of style and a little retro kick.

Owner Sachiko Kikkawa carefully curates her shop’s selection, filling the shelves with items that look good and work well, and customers will see plenty of practical finds and chic odds and ends. There are stacks of elegant ceramic bowls and mugs across the room from colorful toys and kids’ umbrellas, with a selection of fashionable tote bags and useful water bottles, unique earrings and bracelets, plus dozens of other products that are hard to resist once noticed. The idea is to offer items that won’t go out of style any time soon, and as Kikkawa puts it herself, “I stock what I want to put in my own house.” This method seems to work, with plenty of customers coming in to buy items as gifts for friends, particularly after they’ve bought a product for themselves and ended up liking it so much they just had to share.

In fact, Kikkawa is a go-to gift shop in Miyoshi thanks to all the products’ broad appeal. When Sachiko Kikkawa moved back to her hometown of Miyoshi after decades away, she saw an opening for just this kind of modern variety store, and she managed to create a shop with offerings that appeal to a wide range of customers. Whether it’s a birthday gift for a friend, a fancy Father’s Day present, or a fun and not-too-expensive memento of Miyoshi, there’s a little something for every customer and every gift recipient as well!

For a unique touch, Sachiko Kikkawa’s interest in plants and preserved flowers shows through in the product selection, and her handmade dried flower wreaths decorate the walls!

Sachiko Kikkawa is also an enthusiastic promoter of all things Miyoshi: drawing up and distributing her own map of the neighborhood, and frequently sending out information about local events on Instagram and Facebook. She’s got all the latest news and great tips about exploring the city, and she’s ready to share it with anyone who stops by, so curious travelers shouldn’t miss a visit to Kikkawa!
